1.1 The UCAS Group of Companies means UCAS and its subsidiaries from time to time and their subsidiaries, ("we" "us", "our" or "UCAS" as the context permits). The UCAS Group has adopted the following privacy policy as part of our commitment to protect your personal information. The information we will collect from you will include the information you provide when making your UCAS Card application, and any additional information you provide when receiving services from us or responding to us in relation to services, competitions or other communications.
1.2 We will use your details to provide you with information about the UCAS Group from time to time. The main purpose of the UCAS Card scheme is to give you access to information provided by colleges, universities or other course providers in which you might have an interest. We will (unless you opt-out of receipt of such information) pass your name and address to institutions to enable them to write to you by post regarding courses, open days or surveys. If you would like to opt-out of such mailings you can do so by emailing ucascard@ucas.ac.uk.
1.3 When you register for UCAS Card you can supply email and or mobile number to receive such communications by email or text. By supplying details and entering a tick in 'I agree to terms and conditions' and clicking 'Finish sign up' you are providing consent for such communications. You may opt-out any time from either communication method by emailing ucascard@ucas.ac.uk or by following unsubscribe instructions on electronic communications.
1.4 In addition to the above you will be asked in the registration process if you would like to receive information we think may be relevant which we can send to you on behalf of carefully chosen, reputable and trustworthy commercial organisations. You can choose to opt-out of postal mailings or opt-in to email and text messaging (SMS); we will send such information in line with your preferences. If you subsequently decide to opt-out of receipt of such information or wish to change the means of communication, you can email ucascard@ucas.ac.uk. Alternatively you can manage your opt-in status at any time online at www.ucas.com/ucascard in the 'update my details' section or by following unsubscribe instructions on any electronic communication.
1.5 From time to time the UCAS Group may ask third party data processors to carry out technical work on its behalf in order to ensure your data is properly managed. The UCAS Group will at all times remain responsible to you for the security of your data, and will take reasonable steps to ensure that any third party processors have systems in place to guard against unlawful or unauthorised access or accidental loss, destruction or damage.
1.6 The website may contain links that make it easy for you to visit other websites. The UCAS Group does not have any control over those websites. Therefore, if you use these links to leave the UCAS Group and visit websites operated by third parties, the UCAS Group cannot be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information that you provide whilst visiting those websites.
1.7 We may use cookies. A cookie is a small amount of data which is stored on your computer and which is revealed to us when you use this website. We use cookies only to make it easier to identify you when using the website. We do not use cookies to collect additional information about you. You can configure your web browser not to accept cookies, although this may hinder the functionality of the website for you.
1.8 You may, at any time, withdraw your permission for the UCAS Group to use your personal information for the purposes of sending you ucascard mailings by writing to the Company Secretary, UCAS, Rosehill, New Barn Lane, Cheltenham, Glos GL52 3LZ. You may also write to our Company Secretary if you have any questions, or wish to have any of your personal information edited or deleted.
1.9 Under the Data Protection Act 1998 you may request that we provide you with details of personal information that we hold about you. If you want to make a request for this information you should write to our Company Secretary at the above address. There will be a fee of £10 payable to UCAS Media Limited. A cheque for this amount should be sent to UCAS Media Limited with your request for information.
