Information for advisers

What is the UCAS Card scheme?

At its simplest, the UCAS Card scheme is the start of the UCAS journey. When your students register they get access to a host of information about courses, life in higher education, the application process and, of course, the free discount card that can be used on the high street.

What are the benefits?

The appeal of the discount card is obvious but it is the wealth of inside information and educational benefits that is of real value. Registered students receive advice to help with the application process, guiding them from start to finish.

Essential UCAS information

The information is designed to complement the advice that they receive in school. Students are sent tailored information on courses and institutions depending on the choices they make in the UCAS Card registration.

Tailored university and course information

They aren't bound by their choices at registration either; they can change their criteria at any point throughout their UCAS Card membership, meaning the tailored information sent to them also changes.

Email bulletins

UCAS card members will also receive monthly email bulletins. These are full of advice, including reminders on key UCAS deadline dates and guidance about filling in the personal statement section of the application.

Secure, official information

UCAS Card doesn't have its own website - it operates securely within the main UCAS site. This means that there are no security or access issues for schools and colleges. It's a secure, official route to useful, relevant information.

How do students register?

To register, students need to go to www.ucas.com/ucascard. The UCAS Card scheme is the platform for them to start looking into higher education and researching their UCAS application.

How do I know who has registered?

All UCAS Correspondents at schools and colleges will receive information and posters from UCAS Card. When students register they simply tell us what school they are at using a drop-down menu.

You can use the adviser section of Apply to find out who at your school has registered for a UCAS Card. This means that you can speak to students who haven't signed up and encourage them to do so, so they can make the most of the benefits. It also acts as a security measure to make sure we don't have people registering who are not students.
