Who decides on the allocation of UCAS Tariff points?

Tariff points are allocated to qualifications following a set of procedures devised by UCAS and higher education admissions tutors. A team of HE academics and admissions staff, supported by a qualifications expert and UCAS staff, considers how well specific qualifications help prepare students for higher education study. Each qualification is systematically compared against an appropriate benchmark qualification that is already on the Tariff to judge how it develops knowledge and skills for progression into and success in higher education.

Recommendations for Tariff points are reviewed and agreed by a panel of higher education admissions tutors known as the Tariff Advisory Group.
