ifs School of Finance Diploma/Certificate in Financial Studies

ifs School of Finance Diploma/Certificate in Financial Studies
Summary The Certificate in Financial Studies enables students to make informed and confident decisions regarding their finances and teaches them to apply the appropriate solution(s) from the wide range available within the evolving financial services marketplace. The Diploma enables learners to develop and further the knowledge and skills gained by achieving the Certificate to the wider financial environment. It also enhances their financial capability by helping them understand issues from perspectives beyond their own, including that of the providers of financial services and to appreciate the consequences of decisions and their impact upon personal financial footprints.

Following UCAS' comparative analysis of the QCF Diploma and Certificate in Financial Studies against their NQF predecessors in 2010, the Tariff Advisory Group recognised that both sets of qualifications provide similar levels of utility for progression to higher education and agreed to transfer the Tariff points to the new qualifications. The points for the QCF qualifications come into effect for entry to higher education from 2011 onwards.

UCAS reviewed the qualification in 2011 and recognised that the ifs Diploma includes three units that make up the ifs Certificate. As a result, Tariff points for the Diploma have been changed for entry for entry to higher education from 2012 onwards.

Applicants presenting the Diploma for entry to HE from 2012 onwards cannot also count the points allocated to the Certificate. In the same way that AS and A level Tariff points work, points obtained from the Certificate must be subsumed into the Diploma Tariff score.
