CISI Certificate for Introduction to Securities and Investment
Summary

This qualification was developed specifically for the further education sector and for those wishing to move on into higher education. It aims to provide individuals with knowledge and understanding of the key characteristics, mechanisms and influences on financial markets and institutions. It is comprised of two units;

  • Introduction to Securities and Investment
  • Introduction to Investment Extended Project

The first unit has been offered as a standalone qualification since 2005 and is designed to provide a basic introduction to the financial services industry with a focus on investments.

The second unit was introduced in 2009 to demonstrate a range of competences in collecting, analysing, managing and evaluating information. It will also develop their knowledge and understanding of a selected topic from Unit 1. It was introduced specifically to equip learners more effectively for higher education.

Tariff entry

The Expert Panel considered these qualifications in October 2009.
Points come into effect for entry to higher education from 2011 onwards.

The short accreditation end date reflects the limit set by QCDA/Ofqual at the time on all QCF qualifications. This qualification will be submitted for extension beyond the current accreditation end date.
