An additional choice is available if they need it

Step 3: Offers

How Extra works

If your son or daughter has used all their five choices and been unsuccessful at all of them, or declined any offers received, Extra gives them the opportunity to have an additional choice through UCAS.

To use Extra applicants need to have:

  • already made five choices
  • received decisions from all these choices; and
  • either had no offers or declined all the offers they have received.

Extra lets your son or daughter apply for courses with vacancies between the end of February and the end of June. Universities and colleges with vacancies will list them on the Course Search section of this website. Applicants who are eligible will be able to refer themselves electronically through the Track service, for courses with vacancies.

If they are offered a place, they can choose whether or not to accept it. If they don't get an offer in Extra, they can apply through our Clearing process, which gives them another opportunity to apply for vacancies.
