My son has been turned down for medicine. Can he apply through Extra or Clearing?

Your son now faces a choice. Extra and Clearing are further chances to gain a place for those who do not have one. Unfortunately, very popular over-subscribed courses like medicine and veterinary science are unlikely to be available.

Your son needs to decide whether medicine is all he wants. His options then are either:

  • to reapply in the next year's cycle - possibly improving his grades or gaining some relevant health-related work, or
  • attempt to gain a place on, for example, a science degree, with a view to applying for a postgraduate medicine course after successful completion.
