My daughter is desperately unhappy at college and says she wants to come home. We want her to stay, but can she reapply if she leaves?

It can take time to settle into new surroundings. Many unhappy students wake up one day and realise they wouldn't want to be anywhere else. Get her to talk to people at her college; they will understand. She should have a personal tutor, as well as access to the college counselling services. They will help her get to the root of the problem.

It might also help her to know that she can reapply through us while she is still at college. Some students start to do this and then realise they would be happier where they are. Reapplying in this way will not put your daughter at a disadvantage but the universities or colleges she applies to may want to know why a move will solve the problem.
