Statistical services

From the number of applicants to the most popular subject, our statistical services pages can help you to access and interpret UCAS statistics with ease and accuracy. The information available includes standard and interactive data, supporting definitions and details of how to access our bespoke data products and services.

Statistics online
This section contains data that is available to view online, taking the form of static data tables, our online Statistical Enquiry Tool and downloadable datasets which you can use to create your own PivotTables.

Situation Reports
The Situation Report is available each Tuesday at midday between 6 October (for 2009 entry) and 27 July, and published on the website. It contains UCAS applicant and choice state data for the current entry cycle and compares this to the previous entry cycle. Between May and July (inclusive), it also contains data on choices through Extra.

MS12 analysis of applications
The analysis of applications is a breakdown of the number of applications for each individual course at an institution, by the choice state. The latter is shown in the columns of the report, and there are rows for home, international and all applications for each course. Institutions order the report through the web-link menu. Run automatically by schedulers on the Sunday closest to the 14 and 28 of each month. See the schedule for June to September 2010

Applications Digest
The applications digest compares the number of applications (main scheme choices) made in the current and previous entry cycles. Figures are reported for each of the universities and colleges who recruit students through UCAS in the current cycle. Each release compares the position at a particular closing date with an equivalent point in the previous cycle.

CUKAS
The Conservatoires UK Admissions website, which is also administered by UCAS, provides some data in the form of the published Annual Report.

GTTR
The GTTR website provides access to weekly statistics for the numbers of applicants and accepted applicants to postgraduate teacher training courses during the 2011 applications year. There are separate tables for applicants to training providers in England, Wales and Scotland. These tables provide a breakdown of the number of male and female applicants for different primary teaching age ranges, middle years teaching and for each secondary teaching subject and give a comparison with the same stage of the previous applications year. The Annual Statistical Reports for the years 2000 to 2010 are also available.

If you are a UCAS member institution, you can also use web-link to view your own applicant data and to update course and institution data. This facility, which is reached directly through an internet connection, enables you to view and, in some cases, download statistical data and reports relevant to your institution and to a particular application Scheme (UCAS, GTTR, CUKAS, and UKPASS).
