This year fees information associated with courses listed in web-link net.update will be published as soon as the search tools go live for 2013 entry.
This decision has been taken to reflect that fact that there have been no significant changes to policies around fees for the forthcoming cycle and indications are that any changes will be much less significant than last year.
We will advise each government administration that we will not be freezing the display of fees data this year. We will include a disclaimer against each course advising applicants that the fees information is provided and maintained by the institutions and is subject to change and that therefore any information should be checked directly with institutions.
Should you have any further questions about this please email coursesdata@ucas.ac.uk
Since 2007, SPA has collected and published information regarding HEIs' use of admissions tests. It has been agreed that UCAS will now assume responsibility for this task, in order to consolidate course data collection activity and improve transparency. We would therefore like to remind you to check that where you intend to use an admissions test in the admissions decision-making process for a course for 2013 entry, you have clearly indicated this in web-link net.update. SPA will continue to produce statistics about the number of tests in use, to liaise with HEIs and the test bodies and to report on emerging research findings.
To indicate that you will use an admissions test in the admissions decision-making process for a particular course, navigate to the entry requirements section for that course in net.update. Select the Course Level Requirements section, and tick the box next to 'Admissions Test may be Required?'. This will then open a new window containing fields that should be used to provide more detail about the admissions test(s) you use:
We would encourage you to complete as many of these fields as you can, so that applicants can access as much information as possible about the types of test in use at your institution. This is particularly important if the test is an Institution's Own Test rather than a test in use nationally, as it may be more difficult for applicants to locate information about the test.
Please ensure that you have updated this information before Course Search and Course Finder go live in May 2012 with 2013 listings, so that applicants are able to find the information as soon as they start looking for university courses.
If we need more information about the tests in use at your institution for the purposes of the activity we have taken over from SPA, we will get in touch later in the year. If you have any questions in the meantime, please contact the Data Collection Team on
01242 544 864 or email coursesdata@ucas.ac.uk
For applicable 2013 courses, institutions are required to input the new fee information directly into UCAS net.update by the end of July 2012 in order to be supplied to HEFCE. For more information please read our KIS User Guide.
