Declaration
In the Apply declaration the applicant confirms that the information given is complete, accurate and all their own work.
Email alert
The applicant receives the following email on the same day as the HEIs listed in the choices section of the application:
'UCAS has received your application for processing but we must advise you that our Similarity Detection Service has identified passages of text within your personal statement that match other known sources or personal statements previously submitted to UCAS. Please log onto Track for more detailed information.'
Track
The message on Track reads:
'During processing of your application our Similarity Detection Service has identified passages of text within your personal statement that match other known sources or personal statements previously submitted. If you have applied in a previous cycle please note that the service has checked and removed this match from the detection process and your statement will have matched with another source.
A similarity transcript can be viewed by clicking on the following link: Similarity report
We have sent a message to the institutions listed in the choices section of your application alerting them to these similarities and providing them with a copy of the similarity transcript. Any action taken by the institutions will be dependent on their own policies and may cause them to contact you to discuss your application further.
