Why was this introduced?
In a study carried out during the 2007 cycle, observations were made that as deadlines approached, the number of applications using borrowed material in personal statements, either from the internet or other applications, increased. We have developed a similarity detection service designed to help institutions assess applications and support their admissions and decision making processes. The service was launched at the start of the 2008 UCAS application cycle.
