Applicants are able to make an extra choice

The purpose of the Extra procedure is to give applicants who have used all five choices, but are holding no offers, the opportunity of making a further choice or choices, and of receiving an offer before results are published and Clearing starts. There is no additional applicant fee for the service.

Cheerful students

Applicants can be eligible for Extra for a number of reasons - many applicants receive five offers and then decline them to enter Extra; it's not only unsuccessful applicants who use it.

The procedure starts towards the end of February, with applicants being able to make choices until the end of June.

Vacancies appear on our website. We assume that a course is open for Extra unless you tell us otherwise.

Eligible applicants will automatically receive information from us about Extra and an Extra button will be displayed in Track. They are able to refer themselves for consideration in Track. Only one such referral is possible at any one time. Extra is therefore a sequential procedure.

You are able to make conditional, unconditional and reject decisions on Extra applications and applicants are able to accept an offer or decline it. An applicant who has not heard from you within 21 calendar days has the option of making another referral elsewhere. However, all decisions must have been made by mid-July. An applicant who is unsuccessful or declines an offer is able to make a further choice or choices, time permitting.
