Confirming or rejecting your offers

Once an applicant's examination results are known and you have all the necessary information, you can make conditional offers unconditional or reject them. This process is known as Confirmation.

The majority of conditional offers are based on the results of GCE and SQA summer examinations and so the Confirmation timetable is geared to their publication dates. Where results are available earlier, for example after a winter examination or after BTEC awards, offers can be confirmed as soon as the results are known.

What to do after you receive GCE and SQA results

You should make decisions on applications as quickly as possible after receipt of summer results, and in any event by the date notified by us. If the applicant has fulfilled the conditions, you must confirm the offer (make it unconditional). If the conditions have not been met, you may reject the applicant, confirm the original offer or make an offer for an alternative course.

You can confirm an offer even if all the conditions have not been met, or offer a place on an alternative course. An Outstanding Decisions List is available eight days after the notification of GCE results to you.

Examination results

We collect the results of some examinations centrally and distribute them to you before the official publication date. See the Exam results page in the students' section for a list of results.

All other results must be obtained directly from the applicants. The advice we give to applicants asks them to send the results of all other examinations to you as soon as they are published.
