Of the UK institutions listed by UCAS as offering higher education (HE) courses, the vast majority have written and provided a generic statement reflecting their position on accepting the Advanced Diploma as a route onto their undergraduate courses. This includes all of the research-intensive Russell Group and 1994 Group universities, and all of the Million+ and University Alliance universities.
UCAS members have submitted course-level admissions information to UCAS for 2010 admissions. This information includes the acceptability for each Line of Learning and guidance for what Additional and Specialist Learning will be required for application to HE.

W08: Wakefield College
Wakefield College considers the Advanced (level 3) Diplomas as being an equivalent level qualification to A levels and therefore satisfying the general entrance requirements for entry to an undergraduate programme. Specific requirements will depend on the exact program applied for. Specific Additional/Specialized Learning may be required. Diploma candidates should consult the Admissions staff to check that their Diploma is suitable for their chosen program and that they are taking any required options.
W12: Walsall College
Walsall College considers the Advanced (level 3) Diplomas as being an equivalent level qualification to A levels and therefore satisfying the general entrance requirements for entry to an undergraduate programme. Specific requirements will depend on the exact program applied for. Specific Additional/Specialized Learning may be required. An interview with the relevant Admissions Tutor will also be required.
W17: Warrington Collegiate
Warrington Collegiate welcomes the new 14-19 Diplomas and will consider the Advanced Diploma equally and individually with other level 3 qualifications for 2010 entry. Further advice on specific requirements is available from Learner Services.
W20: The University of Warwick
Applicants who successfully achieve the new Advanced Diploma (level 3) will be considered for entry onto Warwick degrees in closely related subjects. To meet the standard entry requirements applicants may need to take specific Additional and Specialised Learning options. The whole applicant profile will be taken into consideration and judged on its own merit. W25: Warwickshire College
The new Diplomas are welcomed. We expectthat these will be accepted as entry requirements to all appropriate HE courses.
W29: Welsh College of Horticulture
The Welsh College Of Horticulture will welcome applications from people taking the new 14-19 Diplomas. We expect that these will be accepted as entry requirements to all appropriate HE courses. Certain courses may have specific subject requirements.
W40: West Herts College, Watford
West Herts College is looking forward to receiving applications from Advanced Diploma students for courses starting in 2010. The College supports the development of Diploma courses in the region.
W50: University of Westminster
Applicants who successfully achieve the new Advanced or Extended Diploma (level 3) will be considered for entry onto degrees in closely related subjects. For entry into other subjects, the whole applicant profile will be taken into consideration and judged on its own merit. Admissions tutors will wish to ensure that candidates applying with the Diploma have developed subject knowledge and study skills relevant for the course for which they have applied. The university will continue to review all information with regard to Diploma developments.
W52: Westminster Kingsway College
We welcome applications from learners offering a pass in the Advanced Diploma as an entry qualification for our courses.
W67: Wigan and Leigh College
Wigan and Leigh College fully endorses the new diploma pathways and recognises the importance of the personal, learning and thinking skills they provide for progression to Higher Education. The courses offered at the College will build on the work-related element of the new diplomas, to prepare students for employment. From 2008, learners undertaking the Advanced Diplomas will have the same progression opportunities as those learners undertaking A levels, BTECs and other level 3 provision, in relevant subject areas. Wirral Metropolitan College Confirms that the following arrangements are suitable for applicants who have undertaken 14-19 Diploma pathway for entry on to Higher National Diplomas, Foundation Degree or Degree Programmes.
W74: Wiltshire College
Wiltshire College welcomes applications from candidates studying the 14-19 Advanced (Level 3) Diploma. In due course we expect to be able to consider applicants presenting this qualification for the full range of courses we offer, provided that the subject of the Advanced Diploma is relevant to the degree programme applied for. W75: University of Wolverhampton
From September 2008 a considerable number of 14-19 year olds will be studying for the new 14-19 Diplomas throughout England. The University of Wolverhampton is delighted to welcome applications from students who have completed the Diplomas at an appropriate level. We consider the new Diplomas to be a valuable and valid progression route that will equip students well for working and studying at HE level, as well as preparing entrants for the world of work. W76: University of Winchester
The University welcomes the introduction of the new diplomas in schools and colleges later this year and we will be happy to consider applications from students taking these qualifications for entry to our degree programmes in September 2010 onwards. The University also very much values the Extended Project and its role in preparing students for a successful higher education experience. We are therefore supportive of the requirement for Diploma students to undertake an Extended Project as part of their Diploma programme and also other students who undertake this in addition to A-level, or equivalent, programmes.
W80: University of Worcester
The University of Worcester welcomes the new Advanced Diplomas as a suitable alternative to the traditional A level route into HE courses. Applications will be accepted from Advanced Diploma students for entry to many undergraduate programmes, both related HE courses at foundation degree and honours degree level, and other courses in the university. W81: Worcester College of Technology
Worcester College of Technology supports the introduction of the new Advanced Diplomas. This will enhance the opportunities for level three students to study these new vocational routes as an alternative to A levels. The applied learning content of these diplomas will particularly appeal to existing vocational level two students. The Advanced Diploma will provide a progression route through to the College's wide range of Foundation Degrees and other HE programmes with our partners in the Lifelong Learning Network.
W85: Writtle College
Writtle College welcomes applications from students studying the new 14-19 Diploma qualifications. It anticipates that the vocational nature of the Diplomas will provide an excellent preparation for study on many of its courses.
