Of the UK institutions listed by UCAS as offering higher education (HE) courses, the vast majority have written and provided a generic statement reflecting their position on accepting the Advanced Diploma as a route onto their undergraduate courses. This includes all of the research-intensive Russell Group and 1994 Group universities, and all of the Million+ and University Alliance universities.
UCAS members have submitted course-level admissions information to UCAS for 2010 admissions. This information includes the acceptability for each Line of Learning and guidance for what Additional and Specialist Learning will be required for application to HE.
The following groups have also released statements regarding the Diploma.
To find out more about these groups, visit the university groups page on this site.
T20: University of Teesside
The University welcomes applications from students studying for the new Diploma qualification. For the purpose of admissions, this qualification is equivalent to three A levels. Offers will be made on an equivalent basis with existing level 3 qualifications. We will issue more detailed guidance as information on the new qualification becomes available.
T40: Thames Valley University
Thames Valley University recognises the equivalence of level 3 Advanced Diplomas and Progression Diplomas to A-levels, as indicated by UCAS tariff values, which can therefore satisfy the general requirements for entry to an undergraduate programme. Specific requirements will depend on the subjects applied for, and for some programmes particular Additional/Specialised Learning may be specified. The university welcomes the opportunity that the Extended Project will give applicants to demonstrate their creativity and their abilities to learn independently, to communicate and to collaborate.
T65: Totton College
Totton College welcomes applications from students studying the Diploma for entry onto our HE courses.
T80: Trinity College Carmarthen
Trinity College welcomes applications from Advanced Diploma students for entry onto the majority of its undergraduate programmes. Applicants are advised to check the Entry Requirements for individual programmes or contact Registry on registry@trinity-cm.ac.uk.
T85: Truro and Penwith College (Formerly Truro College)
Advanced Diplomas will be considered that are relevant to the degree course. Some degrees may require A levels in addition to a Diploma. Information will be updated on our website as we come to a decision about particular degree courses.
T90: Tyne Metropolitan College
TyneMet will welcome the applications from those who have undertaken the new Advanced Diplomas in a subject relevant to their chosen course of study. We recognise the benefits of applied learning and employer involvement as a positive preparation to study at HE level and will assess each application on an individual basis. Specific requirements will depend on the exact programme applied for. Specific Additional/Specialised Learning may be required.
