Statements from universities and colleges about the Diploma

Of the UK institutions listed by UCAS as offering higher education (HE) courses, the vast majority have written and provided a generic statement reflecting their position on accepting the Advanced Diploma as a route onto their undergraduate courses. This includes all of the research-intensive Russell Group and 1994 Group universities, and all of the Million+ and University Alliance universities.

UCAS members have submitted course-level admissions information to UCAS for 2010 admissions. This information includes the acceptability for each Line of Learning and guidance for what Additional and Specialist Learning will be required for application to HE.

The following groups have also released statements regarding the Diploma.

To find out more about these groups, visit the university groups page on this site.

O33: Oxford University

The University is currently evaluating the content of the Diplomas to assess their suitability for entry.
The Advanced Diploma in Engineering (Level 3) will be suitable for entry for Engineering Science courses at Oxford, provided candidates also obtain both an A-level in Physics and the new Level 3 Certificate in Mathematics for Engineering. These qualifications can be presented as the additional specialist learning component of the diploma. Offers will be formulated itemising performance in A-level Physics, the Level 3 certificate in Mathematics for Engineering, the Extended Project and the Principal Learning of the diploma on an equivalent basis with existing level 3 qualifications.
For more information on entrance requirements please visit our website www.admissions.ox.ac.uk/courses/enreq.shtml.

O66: Oxford Brookes University

Oxford Brookes University welcomes the development of the new Advanced Diploma qualification, and considers the Diploma as being equivalent to existing Level 3 qualifications such as A levels. Applicants who successfully complete the level 3 Advanced Diploma will be considered for entry onto degree courses in closely related subjects. Specific requirements will depend on the exact course applied for, and it is possible that applicants may need to take specific Additional and Specialised Learning options. For some subject areas it is likely that named A levels may also be required in order to meet the specific entry requirements for the course. More detailed information concerning specific entry requirements for each course will be published in the 2010 Prospectus and on the University website.
