Statements from universities and colleges about the Diploma

Of the UK institutions listed by UCAS as offering higher education (HE) courses, the vast majority have written and provided a generic statement reflecting their position on accepting the Advanced Diploma as a route onto their undergraduate courses. This includes all of the research-intensive Russell Group and 1994 Group universities, and all of the Million+ and University Alliance universities.

UCAS members have submitted course-level admissions information to UCAS for 2010 admissions. This information includes the acceptability for each Line of Learning and guidance for what Additional and Specialist Learning will be required for application to HE.

The following groups have also released statements regarding the Diploma.

To find out more about these groups, visit the university groups page on this site.

G14: University of Glamorgan, Cardiff and Pontypridd

The University of Glamorgan welcomes the new Advanced Diplomas as a suitable alternative to the traditional A Level route into HE courses. Applications will be accepted from Advanced Diploma students for entry to many undergraduate programmes, both related HE courses at Foundation degree and Honours Degree level, and other courses in the university. For more detailed information please contact our Enquiries and Admissions Department 0800 716925 or e-mail enquiries@glam.ac.uk.

G28: University of Glasgow

We are happy to consider applications from those studying towards the new Diplomas.

G42: Glasgow Caledonian University

The University considers the Advanced (level 3) Diplomas as being an equivalent level qualification to A levels and therefore satisfying the general entrance requirements for entry to an undergraduate programme. Specific requirements will depend on the exact program applied for. Specific Additional/Specialized Learning may be required.

G45: Gloucestershire College (was GLOSCAT)

The college welcomes applications from those students offering the new Advanced Diploma qualification for the full range of courses we offer. The college will look at the subject of the Advanced Diploma being studied to ensure that it is relevant to the programme applied for. It is expected that entry will start in 2010 and more information will be posted on our website in advance of this.

G50: The University of Gloucestershire

The University of Gloucestershire will accept the Diplomas at their full points rate as confirmed in the UCAS tariff.

G56: Goldsmiths, University of London

Goldsmiths welcomes applications from students taking the new Diplomas and will consider any such applications alongside those from students presenting other level III qualifications. Any offers made to Diploma students will be conditional upon achievement at a level which corresponds to our published standard offers, provided students demonstrate an appropriate subject mix for their intended area of study. These requirements will be updated as more information on the content of the Diplomas is made available.

G70: University of Greenwich

The University of Greenwich has always been completely accepting of a wide range of level 3 qualifications. To endorse the university's inclusive ethos we will actively encourage applications from students with the new Advanced Diploma. Entry to some undergraduate courses may require certain subject knowledge at an advanced level, and in these cases, applicants may be asked to present a specific Diploma unit or a particular grade in specified Principle Learning units (e.g. Mathematics for Engineering degrees). The university welcomes the prospect that the new qualification will allow applicants the opportunity to demonstrate the further and higher skills necessary for study at higher education.
