Of the UK institutions listed by UCAS as offering higher education (HE) courses, the vast majority have written and provided a generic statement reflecting their position on accepting the Advanced Diploma as a route onto their undergraduate courses. This includes all of the research-intensive Russell Group and 1994 Group universities, and all of the Million+ and University Alliance universities.
UCAS members have submitted course-level admissions information to UCAS for 2010 admissions. This information includes the acceptability for each Line of Learning and guidance for what Additional and Specialist Learning will be required for application to HE.

C05: University of Cambridge
We will be considering the acceptability of the new Diplomas for our courses on a case-by-case basis. Of the Phase 1 Diplomas, the Advanced Engineering Diploma is the only one which provides appropriate preparation for a Cambridge course, and will be accepted for Engineering as long as you have taken A level Physics and the new Certificate in Mathematics for Engineering within the Specialised Learning component.
C10: Canterbury Christ Church University
The University welcomes applications from people taking the new 14-19 Diplomas. Some University programmes require specific subjects to have been studied. You should check the UCAS Big Guide or University prospectus for more information.
C13: Capel Manor College, Enfield, Middlesex
We welcome applications from students with Advanced Diplomas. See entry requirements for individual courses for more information.
C15: Cardiff University
Cardiff University encourages applications from students from a wide range of backgrounds and educational experiences. We thus welcome the introduction of the 14-19 Diploma in England and see it as a significant development enhancing opportunity. The University's Admissions Committee, in conjunction with Admissions Tutors, will continue to review Cardiff's position and monitor our approach towards the new Advanced Diplomas in light of our experience. All applications to the University are considered by Admissions Tutors on their individual merits. Applicants taking Advanced Diplomas will be made offers where these are compatible with the entry requirements for the programme of study. More information will be published in due course.
C20: University of Wales Institute, Cardiff
UWIC welcomes applications from Advanced Diploma students from all five Diploma subjects, onto our related HND, Foundation degree and Honours degree programmes. For more detailed information, please see under entry requirements for individual programmes.
C21: Castle College Nottingham
Castle College Nottingham welcomes applications from Advanced Diploma students for entry to its Higher Education programmes. Some courses require the study of specific subject(s), either from the Advanced Diploma or from another qualification; others have specific professional/vocational/employment requirements. You are advised to check the detailed entry requirements for your chosen course before applying. C22: Coleg Sir Gar / Carmarthenshire College
The College welcomes the new Advanced Diplomas as a suitable alternative to the traditional A Level route into HE courses. Applications will be accepted from Advanced Diploma students for entry to many undergraduate programmes, both related HE courses at Foundation degree and Honours Degree level, and other courses in the College. C25: Birmingham City University (was UCE Birmingham)
The University welcomes the new Advanced Diplomas as an exciting alternative to the traditional A level route into HE courses. We acknowledge the merits of applied learning and employer involvement and believe that the development of Personal Learning and Thinking Skills will be of significant benefit as a preparation for HE level study. The Extended Project provides a valuable opportunity for in-depth work and will help to develop skills of independent learning. The university therefore welcomes applications from Advanced Diploma students.
C30: University of Central Lancashire

C35: Central School of Speech and Drama (London)
We will be happy to consider applications from holders of the new Advanced Diploma (Level 3) from 2010. Specific requirements will depend on the degree programme applied for and be published in due course.
C55: University of Chester
The University of Chester welcomes applications from students undertaking the new 14-19 Diplomas. In general, we are happy to consider any applicant studying an Advanced Level Diploma, although some subject disciplines may require an additional subject-specific level 3 qualification. C56: Chesterfield College
We should be happy to consider applications from holders of the 14-19 Diploma. Students should contact the college for more information relating to appropriate lines of learning for particular courses. We welcome the full range of qualifications and appropriate experience.
C57: Chichester College
Chichester College will be delivering the new 14-19 Diplomas from September 2008 and will welcome applications from students with the new Diploma at level 3 (Advanced) from September 2010. Students will need to hold a 14-19 Advanced Diploma in an appropriate line of learning and meet the college's minimum UCAS points score in order to progress onto a higher education programme.
C58: University of Chichester
The University of Chichester welcomes applicants undertaking the 14-19 Diplomas. Any applicant undertaking a level three Diploma will be considered for entry to a relevant undergraduate course.
C60: City University
City University welcomes applicants presenting the new Advanced Diploma as an entry qualification. Some courses will require the study of specific subjects either within the Diploma or additional/specialised learning. The University is closely monitoring the development of the various pathways and you would be advised to consult with the Admissions Office for further detail.
C62: City College, Birmingham
City College Birmingham welcomes applications from students with Advanced Diplomas for entry to Higher Education courses from 2010. Further information about our higher education provision can be found on the college website www.citycol.ac.uk
C64: City College Coventry
City College Coventry welcomes applications from students with Advanced Diplomas for entry on to HE programmes from 2010. Detailed information of our courses and entry requirements will be available on the College website www.covcollege.ac.uk.
C66: The Manchester College (City College Manchester)
City College Manchester welcomes the new diplomas for entry to higher education. The college is watching the development of the various diploma subjects with interest, but, in general, is currently prepared to take the level 2 diploma as equivalent to other level 2 courses and the level 3 diploma as the equivalent to other level 3 courses.
C69: City of Sunderland College
City of Sunderland College welcomes applications to undergraduate courses from students studying the new Diplomas.
C71: Cleveland College of Art & Design
Cleveland College of Art & Design welcomes applications from students studying for the new Advanced Diploma qualification. For the purpose of admissions, this qualification is equivalent to three A levels. Offers will be made on an equivalent basis with existing level 3 qualifications. We will issue more detailed guidance as information on the new qualification becomes available.
C72: Cliff College
Cliff College will be happy to consider applications from holders of the new Advanced Diplomas along with all other qualifications.
C75: Colchester Institute
Although we would not expect students with the new Diplomas to be entering higher education before 2010, we expect to be able to accept the level 3 Diplomas for entry to our degrees. The normal offer level from the Diploma will be confirmed following confirmation of the points awarded by the UCAS Tariff and entry maybe dependant on the Diploma taken and the degree scheme applied for.
C78: Cornwall College
Cornwall College welcomes applications from students studying the new Diploma qualification. The College recognises the Advanced and Progression Diplomas as indicated by their UCAS tariff values, and these will be accepted as entry qualifications where they demonstrate relevance to the HE programme to which the student is applying. Specific requirements will depend on the programme applied for. Further details can be found on the College website and in the HE prospectus.
C80: Courtauld Institute of Art (University of London)
Courtauld Institute of Art will accept applicants who successfully achieve the new Advanced Diploma (level 3). To meet the standard entry requirements applicants will be required to take specific Additional and Specialised Learning option.
C85: Coventry University
Coventry University welcomes applications from students who are undertaking the new 14-19 Diplomas for entry to our undergraduate programmes. The new Advanced Diploma at Level 3 will be accepted as an entry qualification on its own or it can be combined with AS/A2 Level qualifications. UCAS are in the process of allocating tariff scores to the Diplomas and we advise applicants to refer to our website for the latest information on our requirements once these tariff scores are confirmed. C88: Craven College
Craven College welcomes applications from students studying the new Advanced Diploma. The College will consider the Advanced Diploma as an entry qualification in its own right or combined with an AS or A2 level qualification. C92: Croydon College
Croydon College welcomes the development of Diplomas and will be happy to consider applicants presenting the Diploma qualifications for entry to our Foundation degree and Honours degree programmes in subject areas relevant to their studies. C93: University for the Creative Arts (Formerly UCCA)
The University for the Creative Arts will be happy to consider applications from holders of the new 14-19 Advanced Diplomas (Level 3) seeking admission to the University in 2010. Further detailed information regarding specific course requirements in relation to these new qualifications will be published on the University website www.ucreative.ac.uk in due course.
C99: University of Cumbria
The University welcomes applications from those students offering the new Advanced Diploma qualification for the full range of courses we offer. We will look at the subject of the Advanced Diploma being studied to ensure that it is relevant to the programme applied for. Where this is not the case an additional qualification at level 3 may be required.
