Do you give advice to post-16 students?

Student discussion

The UK has the largest higher education (HE) sector in Europe, with over 40,000 courses and over 340 universities and colleges in membership of UCAS.

Given all this opportunity, many young people would find the sheer diversity of choice overwhelming if they did not have access to professionally competent advisers in their schools and colleges. As an adviser, you may be daunted by the prospect of providing the level of professional advice that your students (plus, of course, their parents) will expect, but don't worry, UCAS as a new range of training courses called The Adviser Programme, designed to meet the needs of all advisers, no matter how long you have been in post and how much experience you have.

How we can help

By attending The Adviser Programme, you will enhance your ability, whatever the circumstances of your school or college, to successfully counsel students on all aspects of applying for HE.

The Adviser Introductory, formally known as the Knowledge, has been designed to help ease you into the world of higher education applications by providing you with an easy to digest understanding of key dates, processes and resources. This session is designed for those that are new to their role and have not yet experienced a full UCAS cycle.

Introductory adviser

The Adviser, Advanced, formally known as Wise Adviser, offers a fantastic opportunity to enhance your existing knowledge base for the benefit of your colleagues, students and their parents. This session is designed for those advisers that have experienced at least three UCAS cycles.

Advanced adviser

The International Adviser, Introductory training sessions provide you with the knowledge and resources you need to work confidently as a new adviser with international and EU applicants. This course is held at Uxbridge College in London to allow easy access to Heathrow Airport for those travelling from outside the UK. Please note that UCAS cannot give formal accreditation to any education agents worldwide.
