Want to look for courses and figure out what qualifications they require? If that's the stage you are at with your UCAS application, head to Course Search to find out more.
Course Search allows you to look for universities and colleges that offer whatever course you are interested in. There are 40,000 different courses at over 300 universities, colleges of higher education and further education colleges to look at.
Searching is easy - you can do it by keyword, subject or course code, and see which universities and colleges offer the courses. You can also narrow down your search by picking certain subjects, course levels, universities, or regions of the country.
Course Search also allows you to see exactly what qualifications you'll need for each course. Simply click on the course title to see its Entry Profile, which contains entry requirements and what universities look for in their students. If you're unsure about whether your qualifications will be enough, please contact the university or college to discuss it.
"Use the Entry Profiles on UCAS's website to make sure that the course you have earmarked to put as a choice is actually the course you want to study," Daniel Cox, admissions officer at City University London, told the Guardian.
He points out that many courses can sound the same when in fact they are very different. "We get a lot of people interested in biomedical engineering, thinking the course is medicine-based. In fact, it's on the design of medical equipment," Mr Cox adds.
You can choose up to five different courses, but you don't have to. If you only put down four now, you can always add another later. You can add more choices right up until 30 June 2012 as long as you have not accepted or declined your offers.
